Brown Park Revitalization

Public spaces, like parks, shape our lives and bring us together.

These are the places where kids play, people connect, and community is created.

Brown Park, a 12-acre city park, is situated in the heart of South Omaha at 15th and U Streets. The baseball field at Brown Park, known as John Stella Field, is one of the finest in Nebraska, but the public space up the hill was in dire need of improvements - pavilion repairs, a new safe and accessible play structure, and infrastructure repair to the sidewalks and parking stalls.

In partnership with neighborhood leaders, Heartland Workers Center, the Omaha Community Foundation, and the City of Omaha Parks Department, we fulfilled our unified vision to strengthen neighborhood leadership and civic engagement resulting in a transformational public space.

Over the last 4 years, we have been working together to revitalize the park, making sure that neighbors’ and community leaders’ input is at the forefront. Together we have raised more than $500,000 and the transformation was completed in the spring of 2023.
